We know it’s very tempting to send in that photograph you’re so proud of, your perfectly written paper, or the video of you playing the starring role in the school play. But before you package it all up, stop … think about how many applications, including essays, test scores, activities lists, recommendations and test scores admissions officers are sorting through to help them make their decisions.
Submit supplements to your application only if you feel very strongly that your extra material will enhance your application and tell Admissions something about yourself they cannot learn from your application. Make sure what you submit is of the highest caliber and will enhance your profile and ask for your guidance counselor’s input. In addition, confirm the required format for submission by checking on the school’s admissions website.
Tufts University Admissions offers an amazing flow chart to help you decide whether or not to send in additional materials.
