You’ve Got Mail

images-1Seniors, National College Decision Day is quickly approaching on May 1st!  The schools you’ve been admitted to will be sending you lots of important announcements via email and snail mail to help you make your decision.  So, check your mail frequently.

Many schools invite admitted students to special on- campus events.  These “admitted student” days offer a chance to take a good look at the campus, ask questions and meet your prospective classmates. If you can, take advantage of this great opportunity to get to know the school and what it has to offer.  The more information you can gather, the more informed your decision and the more comfortable you’ll feel.

Financial aid packages may arrive after you receive your offers of admission. Be on the look out.  If financial aid is an important piece of your decision, take the time to understand the details.  Be clear on how much is gift aid such as scholarships, grants and tuition waivers and how much requires repayment and on what schedule.

Once you’ve make your decision, send in your deposit.  Re-read you acceptance letter and any correspondence you received from the school to confirm that you’ve submitted all the required documents. Now’s the time to notify other colleges that you won’t be attending.

Once you’re a member of the class of 2018, you’ll begin receiving lots of exciting mail requiring your attention! Be on the lookout for details regarding housing, roommate selection, course registration, orientation and summer events. In addition, expect to hear from the health office, registrar and bursar. Check your mail regularly to ensure that you don’t miss deadlines and opportunities.

Your mailbox is going to be full of information about a whole new exciting adventure!
